It was kind of hard to concentrate on a first date when there was a woman with a gaping head wound standing right next to you.

“I actually didn’t go to uni straight from school. I worked for a while before going and this is now my first year teaching,” Jyn was telling him, her elbows leaning on the table and the lights from the bar highlighting her quite frankly amazing cheekbones. “I teach 16 and 17-year-olds.”

“Oh, I always have so much respect for teachers,” Cassian deliberately kept his eyes fixed on her forehead, watching the way her hair swooped past her eyes. “What made you decide to go and study?”

“You know,” she shrugged. “You can always tell yourself oh, I want to save up X amount of money first, or I want to travel first, so many other things that always stop you and it got to the point where I was like fuck it, I just have to do it.”

“If you don’t do it now, you might never do it at all.”

“Exactly,” Jyn grinned, pointing at him from across the table. “You get me. So what do you do?”

Shit. A waiter slipped past and he accidentally let his eyes drift. All it took was a split second to remember the bleeding woman watching him from literally less than a foot away. God, now was really not the time!

“Help me,” the woman pleaded.

“Not now–” Cassian hissed.

i’ve heard a lot of people say “don’t reach out to your friends first and see how many people will remain in your life. those are your true friends” and i get it. it sucks and it’s tiring constantly being the one to message first, to initiate hang outs but don’t take this so literally. some friendships require initiation. i have lost touch with so many people who genuinely cared about me and wanted me in their life because i stopped reaching out. it’s a hard pill to swallow but honestly some people just suck at it and it doesn’t mean they don’t love and value you. i’ve reconnected with some people over the past few months and it’s crazy how genuinely happy they are to see me and how engaged they are in the conversation. i just think sometimes we’re too harsh on each other & too quick to emphasize other peoples flaws and remove them from our lives but then we’ll all be alone and what’s the point of life then!!!!
